Vercel: Fluid Compute
Vercel's first in-house livestream product launch, produced end to end.
[01] The Brief
Vercel was ready to announce Fluid Compute, a new compute model combining the scalability of serverless with the flexibility of servers. They wanted to mark the moment with something they had never done before: a livestreamed product launch produced in-house.
There was no existing playbook. The launch needed a venue, a crew, a run of show, and a broadcast plan built from scratch on a fixed budget and a fixed date.
[02] My Role
I was brought on as a contract Online Producer to own the production end to end on a $30K budget: vendor sourcing, location scouting, crew hiring, scheduling, planning, and the run of show.
On the coordination side, I kept stakeholders, marketing, design, and the technical team aligned from pre-production through the live broadcast, translating the launch goals into an executable production plan.
[03] The Broadcast
The launch was simulcast across four platforms at once: YouTube, LinkedIn, Zoom, and X. That meant platform configuration, stream health monitoring, and distribution had to hold up everywhere simultaneously on launch day.
After the live show, I edited VOD versions of the broadcast for YouTube so the launch kept working as evergreen content.
